AI Transparency

Our Approach to Artificial Intelligence

AUTOSTRAT uses artificial intelligence and algorithmic analysis to support users in evaluating structured backtesting data and gaining deeper insights into the characteristics, strengths, weaknesses and statistical behaviour of trading strategies.

Artificial intelligence is an integral part of selected AUTOSTRAT features. We believe that AI should be used in a transparent, responsible and understandable manner. Users should be able to clearly understand when AI contributes to an analysis and what role the technology plays in generating an output.

AUTOSTRAT is designed and operated in accordance with the requirements of Regulation (EU) 2024/1689, commonly referred to as the EU Artificial Intelligence Act (EU AI Act), insofar as those requirements are applicable to the services and AI functionalities provided by AUTOSTRAT.

How AUTOSTRAT Uses AI

AUTOSTRAT combines structured data processing, proprietary analytical logic, statistical evaluation methods and artificial intelligence to analyse backtesting data supplied by users.

Depending on the feature being used, AI may assist with tasks such as:

  • interpreting structured backtest results;
  • identifying relevant characteristics or patterns within strategy data;
  • explaining statistical results in understandable language;
  • summarising strengths, weaknesses and potential risk factors;
  • comparing different aspects of a trading strategy;
  • generating contextual explanations based on calculated metrics;
  • supporting users in understanding analytical results.

AI is therefore used primarily as an analytical and explanatory layer.

The underlying results may also incorporate deterministic calculations, predefined rules, proprietary scoring methodologies and other non-generative analytical processes. Not every calculation or result displayed by AUTOSTRAT is generated by artificial intelligence.

Transparency Under the EU AI Act

The EU AI Act establishes a risk-based regulatory framework for artificial intelligence within the European Union.

AUTOSTRAT takes the transparency principles of the EU AI Act into account when designing and providing its AI-supported functionality.

In particular, where users interact with functionality that uses artificial intelligence, AUTOSTRAT aims to make the involvement of AI clear and understandable.

Where applicable, AI-assisted or AI-generated analysis may therefore be identified through appropriate information, labels or contextual disclosures within the AUTOSTRAT interface.

This approach is intended to support the transparency requirements established by Article 50 of Regulation (EU) 2024/1689.

AUTOSTRAT continuously reviews its AI functionality and relevant regulatory developments in order to ensure that applicable transparency requirements remain appropriately implemented as the regulatory and technical environment evolves.

AI-Generated and AI-Assisted Outputs

Some explanations, summaries, interpretations or analytical comments presented within AUTOSTRAT may be generated or assisted by artificial intelligence.

Where AI-generated content is provided, AUTOSTRAT implements applicable transparency measures designed to make the involvement of artificial intelligence identifiable and understandable.

Where technically applicable and required under the EU AI Act, appropriate technical measures may also be used to support the identification of AI-generated content in accordance with the applicable requirements of Article 50 of the EU AI Act.

AI-generated or AI-assisted outputs should not be interpreted as statements of absolute fact. Artificial intelligence can produce incomplete, inaccurate or contextually inappropriate conclusions.

Users should therefore consider AI-generated analysis together with the underlying quantitative data and their own independent assessment.

Human Decision-Making

AUTOSTRAT is designed as a decision-support and analytical tool.

The platform does not replace human judgement and does not make legally binding or similarly significant decisions about individuals.

AUTOSTRAT does not autonomously decide whether a user should buy, sell or hold a financial instrument.

Users remain fully responsible for interpreting the information provided by AUTOSTRAT and for any decisions they make based on that information.

The purpose of AUTOSTRAT is to provide additional analytical information that can support informed decision-making.

No Automated Trading

AUTOSTRAT does not autonomously execute trades on behalf of users.

The platform analyses information and provides analytical outputs. It does not independently place orders, manage brokerage accounts, allocate user capital or execute investment decisions.

Any decision to use a trading strategy in live markets remains solely with the user.

No Investment Advice

AUTOSTRAT is an analytical software tool for evaluating and interpreting backtesting data.

Information, scores, classifications, AI-generated explanations, statistical evaluations and other outputs provided through AUTOSTRAT are intended for informational and analytical purposes only.

They do not constitute investment advice, financial advice, investment recommendations, portfolio management or an invitation to buy or sell financial instruments.

Past performance, historical simulations and backtesting results do not guarantee future performance.

Trading and investing involve financial risk, including the potential loss of capital.

Users remain responsible for conducting their own assessment and, where appropriate, obtaining independent professional advice before making financial or investment decisions.

Data-Driven Analysis

The quality of an AUTOSTRAT analysis depends significantly on the quality, completeness and correctness of the information supplied to the platform.

AI cannot compensate for incorrect, incomplete, misleading or statistically insufficient input data.

Backtests themselves are simulations of historical conditions and may be affected by factors including:

  • data quality;
  • historical market conditions;
  • modelling assumptions;
  • transaction costs;
  • spreads;
  • slippage;
  • liquidity;
  • execution assumptions;
  • overfitting;
  • survivorship bias;
  • look-ahead bias;
  • strategy optimisation.

AUTOSTRAT therefore does not represent AI-generated analysis or backtesting results as predictions or guarantees of future trading performance.

Responsible Use of Artificial Intelligence

AUTOSTRAT follows the principle that artificial intelligence should enhance analytical capabilities without obscuring the underlying limitations of the technology.

Our approach is based on:

  • transparency regarding the use of AI;
  • clear separation between analysis and investment decisions;
  • appropriate disclosure of AI-generated or AI-assisted content;
  • human responsibility for final decisions;
  • awareness of potential AI errors and limitations;
  • responsible handling of user-provided information;
  • ongoing review of applicable regulatory requirements.

The goal is not to replace human judgement, but to provide users with better tools for understanding complex backtesting data.

EU AI Act Compliance

AUTOSTRAT has reviewed the nature and intended purpose of its AI-supported functionality against the regulatory framework established by Regulation (EU) 2024/1689.

Based on the current functionality and intended purpose of the platform, AUTOSTRAT is operated as an AI-supported analytical software service and implements the EU AI Act requirements applicable to this use case.

In particular, AUTOSTRAT takes into account applicable transparency requirements concerning AI interactions and AI-generated content.

AUTOSTRAT does not use its AI functionality for purposes such as determining an individual's creditworthiness, making employment decisions, determining access to essential public or private services, biometric identification, law enforcement decisions or other comparable high-risk decision-making purposes.

The regulatory classification of AI systems depends on their intended purpose and actual use. AUTOSTRAT therefore monitors the development of its functionality and the applicable regulatory framework and will adapt its compliance measures where required.

Continuous Compliance

Artificial intelligence technology and its regulatory framework continue to evolve.

AUTOSTRAT regularly reviews its AI-related functionality, transparency measures and user information with the objective of maintaining compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.

Where AUTOSTRAT introduces new AI functionality or materially changes the intended purpose of an existing feature, the relevant regulatory implications will be reassessed.

This includes, where applicable, requirements arising from the EU AI Act, data protection legislation and other relevant European or national regulations.
